About Dr. Hontscharuk

Dr. Rayisa Hontscharuk, MD, MSc, FRCSC is a graduate of the University of Western Ontario Faculty of Medicine in London, Ontario. She completed her medical degree in 2012 and went on to complete a five-year Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgery Residency at the University of Toronto under the directorship of Dr. Mitchell Brown.

Following her residency training, Dr. Hontscharuk completed a Breast Reconstruction and Aesthetic Surgery Fellowship at Women’s College Hospital under the supervision of Dr. Brown and Dr. John Semple. She subsequently completed a one year Gender Confirmation Surgery Fellowship at Rush University Health Center (Chicago, IL) under the supervision of Dr. Loren Schechter.  

In 2019, Dr. Hontscharuk became a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Plastic Surgery. She has published many peer-reviewed journal articles, abstracts, book chapters and commentaries, and she has attended and presented at several national medical conferences. Her interests include aesthetic plastic surgery of the face, breast and body and she has a particular interest in gender confirming top surgery and supportive ancillary procedures. We are excited to have Dr. Hontscharuk join our team at Toronto Plastic Surgery.

Dr. Hontscharuk is a board-certified plastic surgeon. She’s a full member of the The World Professional Association for Transgender Health, The American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, and The Canadian Society of Plastic Surgery.
