Thermage

The Thermage™ procedure uses a patented radiofrequency (RF) technology called ThermaCool™. It has been clinically proven to tighten and gently lift skin to smooth out wrinkles, renew facial contours and treat problem areas on the body. The incision-free procedure is fast and easy and requires no downtime from normal activities.

How does it work?

The ThermaCool™device uses a sophisticated treatment tip which delivers a controlled amount of RF energy. With each touch of the skin, the ThermaTip™ device uniformly heats a large volume of collagen in the deeper layers of the skin and its underlying tissue while simultaneously protecting the outer layer of skin with cooling. This uniform heating action causes deep structures in your skin to immediately tighten. Over time, new and remodeled collagen is produced to further tighten the skin, resulting in healthier, smoother skin and a more youthful appearance.

When can I expect to see results?

Recently published studies conducted by Thermage™ show that measurable tightening appear gradually over 2 to 6 months after a single treatment. However, many patients have reported seeing an earlier response.

What are the potential risks?

The Thermage™ procedure has an excellent safety record with less than a 1% incidence of side effects. The most frequently reported complications include swelling, redness, bumps or blisters on the treatment area. If these were to occur, they should resolve completely in a few days or weeks. Occasionally a person may need a second treatment to obtain the desired result.

How much downtime should I expect?

The Thermage™ procedure will take approximately 2 hours and does not require any sedation. You will be able to drive yourself home afterwards.

Some people experience mild redness (like a mild sunburn), but it usually disappears quickly. You will be able to resume all normal activities by the next morning.
