Lip Augmentation at Toronto Plastic Surgery

We use a number of injectables for non-surgical lip augmentation depending on the patient’s desired results.

Juvederm Volbella is specifically formulated for subtle lip enhancement and can also be used to address perioral lines, or “smoker’s lines”, around the mouth.

Restylane Kysse can also be used to treat marionette lines, which are the lines that form from the corners of the mouth down to the chin. Restylane Kysse is also clinically proven to enhance lip colour.

Restylane Silk and skin boosters can be used in combination to fill and smooth the vertical lines above the lips.

Both Juvederm and Restylane can add volume to the lips and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles around the mouth. These fillers can also be used to enhance the lip shape and define the lip border.

Botox can be injected into the upper lip to relax the muscles and give the appearance of a fuller upper lip, also known as a “lip flip”. This procedure involves injecting small amounts of Botox into the muscles around the mouth to relax them, allowing the upper lip to roll slightly upward and outward. This creates the illusion of a fuller, more defined upper lip without adding any volume or fillers to the lip itself.

How long does it last?

Results from Juvederm and Restylane typically last around 6-12 months.

The effects of a lip flip with Botox typically last for 2-3 months.

What to expect during the treatment and after

During the procedure, a numbing cream or local anesthetic may be applied to the lips to minimize discomfort. The filler is then injected into specific areas of the lips using a fine needle or cannula. We do not tend to use numbing cream for lip flips as the procedure is typically quick and very well tolerated. As well, most fillers contain lidocaine making the treatment and recovery more comfortable.

To alleviate anxiety and pain that may be associated with your lip enhancement, we offer Pro-Nox (“laughing gas”) to provide fast-acting pain relief and increase your comfort during the injection.

After the procedure, you may experience swelling, bruising, or tenderness around the injection site. These side effects typically resolve within a few days.
