CellfinaTM Cellulite Treatment

CellfinaTM is the first Health Canada approved treatment for cellulite that has been shown to produce results that last for at least three years. CellfinaTM is ideal for patients with localized areas of cellulite resulting in discreet dimples in the skin. It is not as effective for people with a generalized “cottage cheese” appearance. An assessment in our office will help to determine whether you would be a good candidate for CellfinaTM. The treatment is a single in office procedure performed under local anesthesia. There is minimal downtime and results are often apparent within a few days.

How does it work?

The CellfinaTM system treats the primary structural cause of cellulite, the connective bands woven throughout the fat in the thighs and buttocks.  These bands pull down the skin creating the puckering you see on the surface of the skin.  Similar to a rubber band under tension, once released the treated skin bounces back in order to smooth itself out.

Is there any downtime associated with this procedure?

After the treatment, patients can go about their day.  You may want to take it easy for up to 24 hours after the procedure.  We recommend no exercise for the first 72 hours.  A light compression garment can be used for about two weeks for comfort.

Common side effects

You may experience some tenderness in the areas treated.  This will quickly resolve.  Most patients will have localized bruising that can persist for several weeks. Tingling or numbness can occur in the treated areas but this is unusual and will resolve within a few days.

How long will the procedure take?

Treatment time will depend on the number of areas to be treated but generally takes 45 minutes. There will be a need for planning, marking and photography prior to the procedure, so total time in the office will be roughly 90 minutes.

What can I expect during the treatment?

CellfinaTM is performed  in the office under local anesthetic.  No sedation is required, although it can be provided if a patient is anxious and prefers a mild sedative. In that case, an escort will be necessary to take you home.

After marking the dimples and taking standardized photographs, you will be placed in a comfortable position of your tummy and the areas to be treated will be washed with a cleansing solution. Local anesthetic will be injected to numb the area. A suction device is then positioned to pull the dimples forward. A small needle is placed in to the skin and moved in such a way that the dimple will be released. This process is continued until all required areas are treated.

Following the treatment, we will place a small bandage over the treated areas and a compression garment to provide some support.

When will I see results?

Results from a CellfinaTM treatment are often seen immediately although it can take several weeks for the swelling and bruising to subside and for you to visualize the final result.

How long will the results last?

Patients in the CellfinaTM  clinical studies showed significant improvement shortly after the treatment, with results lasting at least five years.

How much does it cost?

Cellfina pricing starts at $4,750.
